We arrived on-time with smiles and gear bags and petrol.  Those who left before dawn huddled around the coffee pot at the diner in Richmond, Kentucky.  Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky plates on the cars in the parking lot.  No one said, it’s too early, it’s too cold, it’s too dark or it’s too far.  Just smiles.  We would cover 759 miles in two days, see the temperature touch 32 degrees with eight cars and never had anyone make a miss-turn.

We reached the Lodge, checked in and then did it again.  Dinner at 7PM in the dining room and we ended up closing the place down.  A sure sign of a good time.

Breakfast on day two found us plotting an exit path over the Cherohala Skyway (awesome in its own right), to Sweetwater, Tennessee and wending our way northward.  Back home in the garages before dark on the second day.  No breakdown, no frowns, nothing but good times and a reminder that it is really all about the people.
