Natural Bridge Cruise and Picnic Saturday 10 September 2022

Where:
We will congregate at the Shell station in Slade, KY. Take exit 98 about 15 miles past Lexington on I-64 from Louisville and then it is another 33 miles south on the Mountain Parkway to the Slade exit. Mountain Parkway exit off I-64 is #98. Then the Slade exit off of the Mountain Parkway is #33. It is pretty-obvious and at the intersection of routes 11 and 15.

Food for a picnic and fuel for your car are both available at the Shell station. We will depart on route 15 and make a right turn onto route 77 through the Nada Tunnel. A note about the tunnel: Once the first car in our party goes into the tunnel then we ALL go. The cars going the other way will have to wait.

Route:
The entire route is in very good condition and much of it is freshly paved. Next turn is onto route 715 and after a few miles we will make a small diversion to visit Sky Bridge. Restrooms are available. Next, we proceed south on 715 to an intersection with route 11. A right turn onto route 11 takes us to the picnic area and parking for the chair lift to Natural Bridge. Plan to enjoy a picnic lunch there. Bring your chairs as a precaution although there are picnic tables. There is a snack bar also and restrooms. Leave on your own or take the chair lift to see Natural Bridge. A left turn back onto route 11 takes you quickly back to the Shell station and access to the Mountain Parkway.

The loop takes about an hour and add a half hour or so for the Sky Bridge visit. We should be in the picnic area by 1230.
