Tops, We Don't Need No Stinkin Tops Well, almost true. Kentucky Cobra Club members joined hundreds of others from all over the country to support the fight against Cystic Fibrosis in London, Ohio. We saw glorious weather, a few raindrops (which brought a few tops), and more kinship with acquaintances than should be legal. The KCC was prominent in front of the Hampton Inn, one of several hotels filled with cobraphiles. We were next to the Windy City Cobra Club and right in the foot traffic pattern so that there was a constant flow of friendly greetings. Thursday saw the parade of trailers and cars filtering in; a quick visit to registration and quality time around the canopy in the KCC compound. There was free food in front the Hampton Inn provided by the Factory Five team and it lasted all afternoon and evening. It made you feel welcome. Friday started damp but cleared and there were trips to Mid Ohio Raceway for races, cruises in the countryside, and visits to the Air Force museum. Juan had us on the road early on Saturday to get prime space in London for the burnouts and the vendor displays. Three hundred plus cars and lots of smiling locals fans. Good weather too. Saturday night's event included the raffle of a Unique cobra, many door prizes at the large tent within walking distance of the hotels and a very appealing buffet dinner. Dennis Olthoff of Olthoff Racing; Bill Parham of Southern Automotive Engines; and an administrator who worked directly with Carroll Shelby in the 1960s, provided unique and interesting presentations after dinner which gave us glimpses into the cobra mystic. Everyone had a wonderful time, plans were made, belts were loosened a notch, smiles flowed and KCC was right in the middle of everything. Who could ask for anything more. Next year's event will be 19-22 June 2008. The Hampton Inn on Trabue will take reservations starting on 9 July 2007. Don't think about it, just do it. Come along to the 2008 London Cobra Show.
