The eight month Concours gestation period delivered a Central Kentucky
weekend like no other. Magnificent automobiles, detailed to
perfection, stood proudly displaying their pedigree. It is amazing how
far we have come in four short years. Our Paddock Committee will meet
Saturday to talk about what we can do better next year.
Thanks to you, my fellow Cobra lovers, for your faithful support! What a
beautiful sight and what sweet music to hear the cars arrive in the
Paddock. Heads would spin around to see what was coming! The Kentucky
Cobra Club contribution to the Paddock Challenge added $144.00 to
benefit WUKY and the Kentucky Children's Hospital. Sixteen of us
enjoyed a day of fellowship. Come again next July and spend the
weekend!"

That was just too easy!
Visiting an exposition of exciting cars on a summer's day ought to
involve traffic, bad weather, crowds, bad food or something to make it
memorable. Keeneland failed on all counts. Great people to visit with, good
weather, no lines, and an awesome location at the Keeneland facility in Lexington.
Jaguar was featured marque, but goodness knows there were
delectable cars galore and lots of modern interpretations of motor cars. The exotics were out in force. Some of those present were quite rare. In fact, the only automobile to be manufactured in Lexington was known, aptly, as the Lexington. Only 50 were built. Four were on display at Keeneland. Racing and touring cars from those cherished pages of your memory book were there. And people, such as Briggs Cunningham, just happened to sit at your table for lunch.
Everyone felt a breeze in the cobra paddock and we had 16 Kentucky Cobra Club cars from all over Kentucky and Ohio. Members included: Robert Hephner, Robert Stokes, Bill and Rochella Alley (with Bill off caring for Concours business), Dave Fister, Sam Jackson, Jerry and Diane Joyner, Juan and Cindy Lopez-Bonilla, Vince Lubbers and Bea Bland, Allen Mulcahy,Terry and Julie Riebel, Phil and Laura Puckett , Roger Vincent and family, and Don Williams and Dwayne Lawrence.
The usual pattern involved members wandering off to see cars of interest, stopping near the clubhouse of food and refreshments, returning to the shade tree to sit and talk a bit, followed by joining another group going in a different direction to see something new. Once everyone was satiated, we had the warm summer equivalent of a bonfire with good friends sitting together, sharing stories and laughs. By late afternoon the early arrivals were filtering toward the gate and heading home.
A good time was had by all.
