Snakes And Palm Trees

A Superformance Snake slithers its way into the Kentucky Cobra Club all the way from San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The Facts please:

A man buys a cobra and then retunes it to run best 4964 feet lower than the purchase point.

A man buys a cobra and transports it 1707 miles to the port of debarkation and then 1000 additional miles across the North Atlantic and then the Caribbean oceans.

Who made the cobra in question?    No, just joking.  But it was, and still is, a Superformance.

Where was the purchase made?  Denver, Colorado.

Where did it find a new home?  San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Here is the rest of the story

Hector Aponte, our new member from San Juan, Puerto Rico, reached out to us a few months back in his efforts to find out more about Cobras and specifically a used one he found in Denver, Colorado. Coincidentally Juan was very familiar with the car and its owner and dug deeper into the car and its specifics, wow what a beautiful piece of art, no expense spared in its fabrication and final drivetrain assembly.

After a few days of conversations with Juan Lopez-Bonilla, our president, who by the way is from Puerto Rico, he decided that the Superformance car from Colorado was going to be his. So, like most guys that have been Snake Bitten, he took the plunge and purchased the car.

A few weeks later, and after many sleepless nights waiting for his car to come home, 'can you relate', the car arrived in Puerto Rico safe and sound. As you will see below it is a beautiful, Titanium color Superformance MKIII fitted with a 427 Roush Stroker motor, black stripes and 18" polished wheels. Take a close look at the photos and in one of them you will see the car tenderly stored away inside a plastic bubble. "I don't know about you but that snake is probably going to spend more time outside the bubble than on the inside."

A big HOLA and WELCOME go out to our newest member, and our sole club member in Puerto Rico.  If you happen to be Stateside Hector, you are invited to stop and visit with your friends in the Kentucky Cobra Club. We wish Hector and his lovely bride much happiness with this new arrival in their family and hope to see more of them and the car surrounded by the beautiful Tropical Landscapes of Puerto Rico.
