31st Indiana Shelby American Automobile Club Spring Fling

15-18 May 2008

Brown County State Park, near Columbus Indiana, was the site of this year’s Spring Fling. This is a GREAT outing for Ford and Cobra lovers. These people do a great job each year. It is always bigger and better. The weather was wonderful and the people were too. Hundreds of cars, all the new stuff and all the oldies. Everything was there. Two were original Cobras. Joyce Yates [IN SAAC President] had her 289 there and number 98, a red 427 [1966 belonging to Marshall Rowe, Illinois], was also there. A lot of new mustangs were there, but always a good mix of old and new. This is a must attend show if you are a Cobra, Mustang and Ford lover.

Dave and Becky Fister, Jerry and Diane Joyner, Terry and Julie Riebel; as well as Vince Lubbers and Bea Bland carried the Kentucky Cobra Club flag. Figuratively that is. Vince demonstrated how not to back a trailer and with help from Terry was able to get off the property before being asked to leave.

The weekend included a car show, a special visit to the town of Salem, Indiana (including laps at the Salem speedway). There were banquets and causal meet-and-greets. Sunday saw a rally in the surrounding area with points awarded for capturing the landmarks suggested in the ride sheet. Our own Dave and Becky got a first.

Plan now to go in 2009. You will like it, we guarantee it.
